On Australia Day, we come together to celebrate.
We have so much to be grateful for – our people, our land, our diversity, our lifestyle, our democracy and freedom. It’s a day to appreciate the community connectedness we have and how we work together through good times and hard. And during these times of uncertainty, it’s important not to lose these connections or take them for granted.
It’s also an opportune time to acknowledge the work our emergency services volunteers and personnel do in our communities during summer. Thanks for giving up your time to help keep us safe and protect us. We also need to thank the service clubs and organisations and volunteers who pitch in and help with barbecues, fundraising and assistance where needed.
This Australia Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to making Australia an even better place, so our families and young people can look confidently to the future. We also welcome the new citizens to our community and congratulate them as they begin their life as Australians.
