$58k welcome for projects to build better communities
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has welcomed the announcement that three organisations in Indi will receive nearly $60,000 for projects under the community stream of the Commonwealth’s Building Better Regions Fund.
The recipients are:
- Into Our Hands Community Foundation, Wangaratta - $18,000 Give where we live – Introducing philanthropy to Wangaratta – An information program and a small grants round to introduce the community foundation concept to the Wangaratta region.
- Parklands Albury Wodonga Limited - $20,000 Pilot a Supported Four Day Upper Murray Horse Trail Ride at Shelley, Vic – A four-day horse riding trail pilot ride and the preparation of the horse trail prior to the event, including installation of gates and clearing of tracks.
- Australian Women in Agriculture Ltd - $20,000 – Wangaratta, Orange, Port Lincoln, Rockhampton AgendHER Plus – Remote, Regional and Ready for Boards – A course consisting of four webinars and one face to face session to assist women in the agricultural sector with board and governance preparedness.
Ms McGowan, who called for the announcement of the funding round in Parliament last week, said the projects will provide great social and economic benefits for the community.
“Supporting local philanthropy and women’s leadership is vital for regional communities, and tourist attractions are a key part of thriving rural economies,” Ms McGowan said.
“Thank you to the Into Our Hands Community Foundation, Parklands Albury Wodonga and Australian Women in Agriculture for their great work, and their effort putting the applications together.”
