New staff member Steve Cooper welcomed to Indi office

January 20, 2017

Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has welcomed Steve Cooper to the team as a constituent officer. Mr Cooper replaces Elise Wenden who was farewelled in December 2016 after two years in the role.

Mr Cooper worked with former Member for Murray Dr Sharman Stone for seven years. Prior to that he worked as an insurance assessor and fraud investigator. He also spent ten years in the Royal Australian Navy and is currently finishing an MBA through La Trobe University.

“Steve is a wonderful addition to our team,” Ms McGowan said.

“He has significant experience assisting people to solve problems and advocate for change at the federal level.

“Constituent officers are the front line for Members of Parliament. They are the eyes and ears of the electorate. They act as a sounding board and an information resource for the many people who contact the office, often in distressing circumstances.

“I would like to acknowledge the dedication of Elise Wenden during her time in our office. All the best for the future.”
