ACCC beef report welcomed
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has welcomed a report from the ACCC which recommends more transparency in the way beef is purchased from producers.
“I’m proud that beef farmers in Indi showed leadership by calling the community meeting which gave rise to the inquiry which prompted this report,” Ms McGowan said.
“The result is a list of recommendations which, if implemented, should provide more transparency and fairness in the processes around the purchase of beef.”
Ms McGowan, who supported local farmers’ call for an inquiry in March 2015, said she would continue to work with farmers, local branches of the Victorian Farmers’ Federation and the National Farmers’ Federation to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations.
