Alpine women’s network takes health to Parliament House
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan says a visit by eight members of the Alpine Women’s Wellness Network to Parliament House was an important opportunity to hear more about local women’s health.
Ms McGowan welcomed the group on Tuesday 5 September, and heard their personal stories and some of the health challenges facing women in North East Victoria.
“As a local independent member I rely on people to let me know what is happening at a local level, so that I can most effectively represent their interests,” Ms McGowan said.
“I particularly appreciate this visit from a group of women of all abilities and ages. Meeting people from Indi when the Parliament is sitting is always a highlight.”
President of the network Kym Goodman said the visit had been eye-opening.
“It was a big undertaking for the group, a first trip away for some,” Ms Goodman said.
“It’s humbling to know that as an ordinary person from North East Victoria, I can meet with my local member, and make a difference.”
The Alpine Women’s Wellness Network promotes events and activities to improve women’s health, and is auspiced by Alpine Health.
Ms McGowan encourages anyone from Indi visiting Parliament House during sitting weeks to contact her office on (03) 5721 7077 or firstname.lastname@example.org
