Ancona celebrates improved mobile reception
Members of the Ancona community will celebrate improved reception when the Ancona mobile phone tower is officially launched on Tuesday, 23 January 2018.
The community will be joined by Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan and Telstra’s Area General Manager East & South West Victoria Loretta Willaton.
Ms McGowan congratulated the community and Mansfield Shire for their work in identifying the black spot as a priority. Mansfield has eight spots funded – Ancona, Tolmie, Kevington, Enochs Point, Goughs Bay, Howqua Inlet, Sawmill Settlement and Woods Point.
“This is an achievement by the community in partnership with the council. It’s a testament to how effective it is when communities and all levels of government work together,” Ms McGowan said.
“Indi has been successful in securing funding for 38 new mobile phone towers under the Mobile Black Spot Programme. This will be the 12th community event held to celebrate the new towers. I will continue to work on a sustainable solution to addressing all remaining blackspots across Mansfield and the rest of the electorate.
Ms McGowan said she would continue to work closely with Telstra and Optus for NBN colocation on as many towers as possible.
“Thank you to Telstra and the State and Federal Governments on delivering a really important boost to local telecommunications.”
“People expect and deserve mobile phone coverage and internet wherever they are in Australia,” she said.
