Apply for grants to better our region
Federal Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan is encouraging applications from Indi to round three of the $200 million Building Better Regions Fund.
“This funding helps to support major projects in regional areas and boost community options in country towns,” Ms McGowan said.
“Indi has had great success with the Building Better Regions Fund in the past. More than $7 million has been delivered for projects in Wodonga, Wangaratta and Benalla since August last year.”
In 2017, Wangaratta Turf Club received $2.2 million for stage two of its redevelopment project. $18,000 went to the Into Our Hands Community Foundation for its Introducing Philanthropy to Wangaratta program. Australian Women In Agriculture received $20,000 for AgendHER Plus sessions in Wangaratta to assist women with board and governance preparedness. Albury Wodonga Parklands Limited will use its $20,000 funding for a four-day horse riding trail pilot ride.
In July this year, $4.4m was allocated to redevelop and update the Wangaratta Indoor Sport and Aquatic Centre to include a 50-metre outdoor pool, hydrotherapy pool and splash play area. Bonegilla Migrant Experience received $534,177 for strategic tourism enhancements. The Personnel Group was granted $19,500 for its 'Shining a Light on Me' Project.
Eligible projects for round three need to include construction of new infrastructure, or upgrades or extensions to existing infrastructure that will provide economic and social benefits to the community. Applicants must have an ABN.
Up to $45 million from the fund has been earmarked to support tourism related infrastructure projects in round three. Applications close on 15 November, 2018.
