Cathy McGowan stands by voting record representing Indi

Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, is proud of her voting record since being elected to represent the people of Indi. In the 44th Parliament, 475 Bills were passed, and Ms McGowan voted with the Government on a possible 443 occasions.

“My commitment before the 2013 election was to work with the Government of the day. As an effective Independent, I am not in opposition,” Ms McGowan said. “My first responsibility when voting is to the electorate and how the Bill before Parliament will impact on Indi. Working with the Government in a respectful way is getting results. Indi is in a stronger place and as a true representative fighting for our communities in Indi, my approach is effective.”

Ms McGowan said the official record of the Parliament of Australia is Hansard. “This accurate information on voting records can be found on the Australian Parliament House website,” Ms McGowan said.

Ms McGowan said her record showed she supported Government legislation on 91 per cent of the legislation presented to the House.
