Communities urged to grab grant opportunity
Independent Member for Indi is encouraging community groups and local councils across North East Victoria to apply for grants to deliver economic and social benefits to their communities.
The second round of the Building Better Regions Fund Community Stream is open for application with grants starting at $5000. While the maximum amount is $10 million, projects under $20,000 do not require matching funding.
“This makes the opportunity ideal for communities which have many great ideas but are under financial pressure,” Ms McGowan said.
“I’m especially encouraging young people, who have great ideas about how to improve their local communities, to apply.
“Indi communities are well placed to make the most of the funding opportunity, with a great track record of working with local government to get things done.”
Non-profit organisations and local councils are eligible to apply, with applications closing on 19 December.
Under the previous round, Into Our Hands Community Foundation Wangaratta received $18,000 to promote community philanthropy, Australian Women in Agriculture Wangaratta received $20,000 for sessions to assist women with board and governance preparedness, and Parklands Albury Wodonga received $20,000 for a four day horse riding trail pilot ride.
