Economic and Industry Development Forum, April 29
Business owners in the North East are being encouraged to attend a forum to discuss innovative cost-saving measures and government programs to help to create improvement in their operations, or assist in getting new enterprises off the ground.
The Economic and Industry Forum is being held on Tuesday, April 29 at the Rural City of Wangaratta council chambers from midday to 2pm.
Federal Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, met with AusIndustry representatives earlier this year and the idea of a forum arose. This would bring together relevant government and private sector representatives to talk to business about the opportunities and programs that exist for business development in the North East.
“To remain competitive in the current economic conditions, businesses need to be continually looking at ways to operate more efficiently and effectively to ensure they are sustainable, provide quality employment opportunities and experience growth,” Ms McGowan said.
“Government needs to be supporting business where possible to ensure they have access to the latest information regarding research and development and I want businesses in Indi to use these avenues to help their businesses develop and grow.”
The forum will provide an opportunity to hear from government and related providers of funding and assistance programs aimed at innovative businesses, particularly those seeking cost savings from gaining energy-use efficiencies through innovation.
Representatives from AusIndustry, Pacific Hydro, Clean Energy Finance Corporation and the Commonwealth Bank will speak at the forum.
Of the speakers, AusIndustry Regional Manager South West NSW, Gilli Williams and Regional Manager North East Victoria, Neil Hamilton, will give an overview on how AusIndustry can assist most business sectors in a number of areas.
Ms Williams said the topics would include R&D Tax Incentive, Enterprise Connect, Tradex, Enhanced Project By-Law Scheme and Small Business support.
Anyone in manufacturing, business accountancy, small business operation, the innovation and invention phase of an enterprise, the import/export market or considering a large scale project, relocation, or development should consider attending the forum.
