Forum to express concerns about disability services
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has called on the Indi community to attend a forum in Benalla to raise their concerns with the National Disability Insurance Agency.
“The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a great scheme, but it is not yet reaching its full potential,” she said.
“In Indi, we had two forums last year and the NDIA said they would get come back to us. The date for this is 28 March in Benalla and I encourage people who have concerns to come and talk to the agency representatives.”
Ms McGowan told Parliament yesterday that people had expressed frustration with the delivery of services to people with disabilities.
“People have told me about delays, not just with delivery of services but also with claims for re-assessment. There are no nominated timeframes for the period between a client submitting an NDIS plan, and approval and implementation of that plan,” she said.
“I call on the Government to introduce timeframes for delivery of services, to create key performance indicators in relation to the timeframes and to increase staff numbers.”
People who want to attend the Benalla forum on 28 March, are asked to contact Ms McGowan’s office on 03 5721 7077 or email email@example.com
