Get on board with the NBN roadshow in Indi

Federal Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan is encouraging residents with questions about the delivery of NBN services to meet with staff when the NBN roadshow visits Indi communities during February.

The roadshow begins in Wodonga on Thursday, 1 February and will tour the North East throughout the month. NBN wants to speak with residents about the rollout of the network and provide information about what householders and business owners should consider before they sign up to a plan with their phone or internet provider.

The roadshow includes a custom-made Sky Muster truck which carries a portable satellite antenna and aims to replicate the speeds and experience people can expect when accessing the NBN via a wi-fi hotspot powered by Sky Muster.

“The roadshow will engage with North East residents in locations where the NBN is now live or very close to going live,” Ms McGowan said.

“This is an opportunity to ask questions before signing up to an NBN plan and understand exactly how this new technology can deliver improved telecommunications in rural and regional areas.

“The Government has rejected a recommendation from the parliamentary inquiry into the delivery of the NBN to establish a committee to examine problems with the rollout in rural and regional Australia.  In taking its roadshow to the regions, NBN is seeking to speak with people and understand their questions and issues.”

The timetable for the roadshow is as follows:

  • 1 February – Wodonga – 10am to 4pm – Junction Square (cnr Elgin Blvd and High St)
  • 2 February – Yackandandah – 10am to 12pm – High St (near Gum Tree Pies)
  • 2 February – Rutherglen – 2pm to 4pm – Main St (near Australia Post)
  • 3 February – Beechworth Farmers Market – 8am to 12pm – Christ Church, Ford St
  • 4 February – Chiltern Farmers Market – 10am to 2pm – Lakeview House, Chiltern

The roadshow will also visit Wangaratta, Kinglake, Marysville, Eildon, Benalla and Mansfield throughout February. Further details can be found at https://www.nbnco.com.au/corporate-information/media-centre/events.html as they become available.
