Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, has welcomed the news that roadworks in Indigo Shire have been completed.
“Now let’s see Government support for the most pressing transport infrastructure problem in Indi, the train service,” Ms McGowan said.
Ms McGowan thanked the Government for the $1.8million in funding for the Indigo Shire roads package. These upgrades will improve safety and connectivity for communities.
“These roadworks are important for the communities in Rutherglen, Yackandandah and Barnawartha,” Ms McGowan said. “It’s great to see the Government stick to the commitment it made for the people of Indigo Shire.”
Ms McGowan has reiterated her call for the Government to focus on the ailing train service on the northern line and commit to funding to help train users in Indi.
“Funding for roads in Indi is always needed for improvements and always welcomed by local councils. However I call on the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs to give support to the train service in Indi.
“Train users in Indi would welcome a commitment to fund a business case to improve the train service.”
