Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, has welcomed the election date beingofficially called. Indi voters will go to the polls on July 2.
“As a local I understand the issues, as an Independent I work with all governments to get results, and my effective approach is working,” Ms McGowan said. “I take the role very seriously, and there is unfinished business. This is not a one-term job.”
“This will be a competitive election and every vote will count,” Ms McGowan said. “There is a clear choice for the future. I will be asking the voters to trust me to continue putting Indi first.” “Indi matters. We have come a long way, funding continues to flow, and our communities are thriving, and opportunities are growing.
“I am proud to be the representative for Indi. I am a strong advocate; improving mobile phone coverage, faster internet, fairer higher education, addressing ag innovation and research, and supporting defence industries.”
In the 44 th Parliament, Ms McGowan delivered 200-plus speeches, has written more than 1000 letters to Ministers on behalf of constituents, and engaged with more than 2000 people in the lead up to the inaugural Indi Summit in October 2015.
The Federal Member for Indi, elected in September 2013, is expecting a robust campaign, contested on policy; a vision for rural and regional Australia, infrastructure and jobs, services, health and education.
Ms McGowan said the attention on the seat would remain.
“I look forward to continuing to welcome Ministers and MPs to the electorate,” Ms McGowan said. During the campaign, Ms McGowan will be out and about in communities across Indi.
“I’m looking forward to visiting many towns across the electorate, and working with volunteers on the campaign,” Ms McGowan said.
