Indi Summit nears

With barely two weeks to go, the Indi Summit was launched this morning in Wodonga with good coverage by Prime and WIN TV. Image above shows Cathy explaining the process to Jacqui Hawkins, Aziah-a King and Kadejah Stevenson. The Indi Summit is the most important event of Cathy’s term in office because it gives locals an opportunity to participate directly in the democratic process. Planning for the Benalla event is at a frenzied pace. The event is free – please register to attend here. Spread the word among family, friends and colleagues – in particular young people – and gather up a carload for the Summit!

Call to meet on phones

Cathy has invited the new Minister for Communications, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, to come to Indi to discuss issues around Indi’s telecommunications. A copy of the invitation is on the website and Cathy is looking forward to a positive response to her invitation to visit.

Wodonga Listening Post: Australia Post

Australia Post will be holding a Listening Post outside Wodonga’s High Street post office on 29 October between 10:30 and 11:30. This is an informal opportunity to discuss issues, give your ideas and learn more about where Australia Post’s business is headed. Find out more here.

 Public Transport moves forward

Thanks to all who participated in the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) workshops held recently in Indi. The survey results, discussion and follow-up are available on the PTV website. On Monday, Cathy met with Victorian Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan and Member for Murray Dr Sharman Stone. Discussions centred around the needs to improve the rail service on the northern and central lines, an update on the draft Regional Network Development Plan, and support for small rural communities’ transport needs.
