Information session in Wodonga for PFAS inquiry
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan is encouraging attendance at a community information session in Wodonga next week as part of the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Federal Government’s management of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in and around defence force bases.
Ms McGowan said some Indi residents within close proximity to defence bases, CFA training areas, airports and corporate sites and former defence personnel had expressed concern about potential PFAS contamination.
“I would encourage anyone who has been affected to attend the hearing,” Ms McGowan said.
The new inquiry aims to build on previous parliamentary inquiries into the same issue in the wake of recent developments including the establishment of the whole-of-government PFAS Taskforce and report by the Expert Health Panel for PFAS.
The hearing will be held on 17 September from 4pm to 7pm at Huon Hill, corner Reid and Havelock streets in Wodonga. A presentation will be made at 6pm.
