Inquiry opened into PFAS contamination
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan is encouraging local submissions to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Federal Government’s management of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in and around defence force bases.
The new inquiry aims to build on previous parliamentary inquiries into the same issue in the wake of recent developments including the establishment of the whole-of-government PFAS Taskforce and report by the Expert Health Panel for PFAS.
Ms McGowan said the issue was of concern to Indi residents within close proximity to defence force bases and serving and former defence personnel.
“I would encourage anyone who has been affected to make a submission,” Ms McGowan said.
Submissions to the inquiry close on 6 July 2018 and more details are available at www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Joint/Foreign_Affairs_Defence_and_Trade/InquiryintoPFAS
