JSCCR hearing in Wodonga on September 24

Federal Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan said local leaders will speak at a public hearing held by the Joint Select Committee for Constitutional Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Monday.

Ms McGowan is a member of the committee and is encouraging local people to attend the hearing at TAFEspace Wodonga on Monday 24 September.

“It is important the committee hears a range of perspectives before making recommendations about constitutional recognition,” Ms McGowan said.

“Thank you to everyone who made submissions to the committee’s interim report and to the inquiry. I encourage constituents to continue to contact my office with their views.”

The public hearing will be held from 12.30pm at TAFEspace, 158 Lawrence Street, Wodonga.

The interim report was released on 30 July and can be read at https://bit.ly/2Al68hQ. Watch Cathy’s speech from 14 August addressing the interim report here: https://bit.ly/2nNdW2G
