Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, will visit the King Valley for her fifth ‘Valley Visit’ of 2015. The visit on Wednesday, May 6, is a chance for residents to meet with Ms McGowan to discuss important issues affecting communities in the area.
Ms McGowan will venture to three locations during her visit: Oxley, Moyhu and Whitfield. As part of the visit, Ms McGowan is guest speaker at the King Valley CWA Women of the Valleys Dinner.
Ms McGowan will have the mobile office – ‘Cathyvan’ – in tow and welcomes anyone stopping for a chat if they see her parked in the area.
During the 2013 election campaign, Ms McGowan committed to visit towns in the Indi electorate to listen to constituents about their views. She visited all valleys last year and these proved to be valuable in providing Ms McGowan information on key issues, and guidance on what areas to prioritise.
Issues raised included mobile phone coverage and NBN connection, the future of agriculture, industry and manufacturing in the North East, small business red tape, health and mental health services, and providing support for youth.
“I’m enjoying getting out and meeting people and listening to their concerns in a number of areas and this allows me to go to Canberra and lobby the Government on behalf of Indi to get positive outcomes,” she said.
People are welcome to attend these public gatherings. For more information, please contact the office of Cathy McGowan on 03 5721 7077.
