Mansfield Bowls Club to get new all weather shelter with help from $9,125 grant
Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan says the Mansfield Bowls Club will have even more to offer following the announcement of $9,125 from the Commonwealth Stronger Communities Programme to construct an all-weather shelter.
“Congratulations to the Mansfield Bowls Club which worked with Mansfield Shire Council to identify a terrific opportunity to improve an important local facility,” Ms McGowan said.
“It’s great to see the results coming from the Council consulting thoroughly with the community and planning to identify local needs and the opportunities to meet them.”
The new shelter will provide protection from extreme weather conditions and paving on the existing east shelter will provide a safe level surface and reduce the likelihood of trips and falls in this area. The total project cost will be $18,125, with the remainder of funding from the Bowls Club.
“These additions to the Mansfield Bowls Club will remove barriers to participation from the Club’s older members by improving the comfort and safety of the facility for players, spectators and visitors,” Ms McGowan said.
“I’m looking forward to the launch of the project, which will enhance the opportunities for people to socialise and engage in physical activity.”
Indi received $150,000 under Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Programme, to be distributed across local government areas. Councils worked with the local community to identify projects for funding.
