Regional policy needed to support country areas

Meeting with Susan Benedyka and Matt Nelson from Hume Regional Development Australia complemented Cathy’s speeches in Parliament about the need for comprehensive regional policy. Cathy is calling on the government to commit to policy that includes regional education, infrastructure, population and drought considerations. Watch the speeches here.

Calls for National Energy Policy

Indi’s renewable energy actions can provide the framework for national change. Cathy used her 90 second statement, three minute statement and question in Parliament on Wednesday to urge the government to commit to energy policy and highlighted the wonderful community energy efforts happening in Yackandandah. Cathy was joined by AusNet Services Managing Director Nino Ficca and General Manager Alistair Parker.

Wangaratta resident David Maroney celebrated good news with Cathy this week after the Victorian Government committed funding to design bogies for VLocity trains on the North East Line. It comes after the Federal Government upped its commitment to $235 million for track improvements. We hope the bogies, new rolling stock and track upgrades will give passengers access to reliable, comfortable train travel.
