About 800 premises in the North East will have access to the NBN with NBN Co. announcing construction of fixed wireless towers in Barnawartha, Bellbridge and Rennies Hill.
Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan AO, welcomed the news that construction is about to commence. Connection is expected to be switched on within 12 months of construction.
“This is great news for householders and business owners in these areas. They will have faster internet speeds and more reliable connection some time in 2016,” Ms McGowan said.
“Small business owners will also welcome this news today and be able to promote and grow their enterprises further when they connect to the NBN.
“Residents have been constantly asking my office when the NBN is coming to their area. Today’s news will be welcome in Barnawartha, Bellbridge and Rennies Hill. This is delivering on my election commitment to work with the Government to fix the telecommunications problems in Indi. I will continue to represent the people’s needs to Government as this infrastructure program continues.”
