Principles and Values
Democracy is important to me
For all the people, by all the people - not just by a few people, for a few people. By setting up inclusive participatory processes and being an effective representative, I believe the ordinary people of Indi can have their voices heard in the 2013 election campaign. I believe the issue of ‘voice’ is an important issue in the 2013 campaign.
Fairness and equity are important to me
The taxpayers of Indi do not receive the same level of services or allocation of resources as people in more marginal electorates such as Bendigo and Ballarat. I believe that the votes of the people in the electorate of Indi are taken for granted and as a result, the people who live in the electorate are disadvantaged. These issues of equity and fairness are important issues in the 2013 campaign.
Choice is important to me
Competition and a closely fought election with the opportunity to choose between two strong candidates will give the people of Indi a real choice. Indi deserves to have this choice.
Individual & community responsibility
I believe that individuals and communities can and do make a difference. We have great potential for good. I am inspired by Margaret Mead’s quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
