Residents benefit from improved mobile coverage thanks to Mount Dom Dom tower
Federal Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan has welcomed improved mobile phone coverage for residents in Mount Dom Dom, Healesville and Narbethong areas.
The new phone tower at Mount Dom Dom was switched on just before Christmas.
Lobbying by communities and Ms McGowan has delivered 38 mobile phone towers to Indi as part of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme.
“Locals in the Murrindindi local government area are to be commended for working hard to ensure a tower was allocated near them,” Ms McGowan said.
“The tower is number 32 for Indi under the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme. It will improve service between Healesville and Narbethong on the Maroondah Highway, an important tourist route from north east Melbourne into Murrindindi.
“Improved mobile phone coverage will strengthen safety, tourism and business opportunities, and connections between families, friends and social groups.”
The mobile phone tower at Mount Dom Dom is the first of three Optus towers and the eighth of nine for Murrindindi Shire.
