Submissions sought to inquiry
Federal Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan is encouraging returned service personnel to make a submission to a new Parliamentary inquiry.
The Inquiry was established on May 30 and aims to assess the services and support available to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members as they transition from active service to civilian life.
“There are services in place to support the mental health and other needs of defence personnel when they leave the ADF but this Inquiry aims to test whether or not those services are adequate,” Ms McGowan said.
“The Inquiry is also aiming to gain a better understanding of how defence reservists transition back to civilian life and whether or not the transition from active service is different for women.
“I encourage all defence personnel to make a submission before the closing date on 13 July.”
The inquiry will be conducted by the Defence Sub-Committee of Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade and further details about the inquiry can be viewed at www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Joint/Foreign_Affairs_Defence_and_Trade/TransitionfromtheADF
There is an all-hours support line available for defence personnel on 1800 628 036.
