Come and say hi at Cathy in the Cafes
Do you have an issue or idea you would like to share with Cathy? Do you want to learn more about the Government inquiry into regional development? Independent inquiry into regional, rural and remote education
The submissions process is now open. If you are a student, a parent, an education provider or a community member, and you have an idea to improve education delivery and outcomes in regional Australia, make a submission. Single serve trays upgrade at Mars Petcare
Mars Petcare this year celebrates 50 years of manufacturing in Wodonga and today the company has opened its new $52.5 million single serve trays facility upgrade. The upgrade will allow Mars to increase its single serve capacity by 80 per cent and has been undertaken in response to demand from domestic and international customers. Cathy joined MLC for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes and general manager Barry O’Sullivan.
Hume Veterans’ Information Centre receives $70,161
Advocacy services delivered by the Hume Veterans’ Information Centre are accessed by Indi and those outside the electorate. The centre has received $70,161.82 from the Federal Government’s Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grants program.

Marriage equality postal survey – enrol now
Cathy is urging the community to come together and have respectful conversations ahead of the postal survey on marriage equality. “It’s no longer about whether or not we should have a plebiscite but about demonstrating how we can have a difficult discussion and share opposing views in a respectful way,” she said. The survey will begin on 12 September and it’s important everyone has their say. (See below in “Did you know?”)

It’s always wonderful to meet with Indi constituents when they are visiting Canberra. This week, Louise and Laurie Jacob of Merrijig dropped into Cathy’s office for a cup of tea and a chat after attending Question Time.

Roundtable kicks off Inquiry into Regional Development and Decentralisation
This week experts gathered in Canberra to provide input to the committee. The discussion highlighted the importance communities being involved, of govern listening to communities and proactive involvement of young people. Go to the webpage here for more information.
