above: Cathy was in Kununurra earlier this week with the The Joint Selection Committee on Constitutional Recognition relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (JSCCR). The committee will host further hearings in July. An interim report is due by 30 July before a final report on 29 November this year.

Locals honoured with national awards
Cathy congratulated the nine people from Indi who received a Queen’s Birthday Honour. For a full list of recipients or to nominate someone for an award, visit the Governor General’s website.
Cutting through red tape
State and Federal Ministers met this week at the Wodonga Cross-Border Roundtable and resolved to sign off on a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The resolution will decrease cross-border anomalies and help businesses trade more efficiently. Victoria is set to appoint its own cross-border commissioner to join NSW counterpart James McTavish.

Mayors, councillors in Canberra
The National General Assembly (NGA) of Local Government will convene in Canberra from 17 - 20 June and representatives from local councils in Indi will meet with Cathy on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Aged care funding applications set to open
The Federal Government has committed to prioritising applications from rural, regional and remote Aged Care Providers in the next Aged Care Approval Round (ACAR). Local providers can apply here.
Australian Defence Force transition submissions
Submissions can be made until 13 July to the parliamentary inquiry assessing the services and support available to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members as they transition from active service to civilian life.
Inquiry into chemical contamination
Input to the parliamentary inquiry into the Federal Government’s management of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in and around defence force property can be made here.
