Don’t miss these important grants opportunities to benefit communities!

  • Community grants under Building Better Regions Fund 
    Community groups and local councils can apply for grants starting at $5000 under the community stream of the Building Better Regions Fund. Projects under $20,000 don’t require matching funding. More info on the BBRF and how to apply here 

  • Armistice Centenary Grants
    Local communities can recommend projects to their RSL for a share of $50,000 from the Commonwealth’s Armistice Centenary Grants Program. More details here

Marriage survey result a step forward for equality

Alpine Valleys dairy farmers show co-operatives are key to agribusiness success

The Alpine Valleys Dairy Consortium has attracted a $136,260 grant. It’s evidence of the important role co-operatives can play in sustainable agribusiness. Read about their success here 

Decision on citizenship action welcomed

With the government and the Australian Labor Party agreeing on a way forward to resolve the citizenship issue, Cathy will continue her commitment to work with the government of the day, with respect, and putting Indi first. Read the full statement here

Jamieson and Bonnie Doon celebrate their work to improve local facilities

Congratulations to the proud locals in Jamieson and Bonnie Doon who launched projects on Wednesday 15 November to improve amenities for their communities and tourists. The Jamieson Memorial Hall upgrade and Bonnie Doon’s Stroll Down Memory Lane project were delivered by the communities and Mansfield Shire Council, partly funded by the Commonwealth’s Stronger Communities Programme

Moyhu mobile phone tower co-located with NBN a big boost for local communications

Moyhu’s new mobile phone tower, co-located with an NBN fixed wireless point, signals great benefits for tourism, emergency services and local amenity. The community turned out to celebrate with a great spread from the Moyhu CWA. Story here

Baranduda’s NutriSoil business wins national award

Congratulations to Rachelle and the team who won second prize in the national Moral Fairgrounds’ Ethical Enterprise Awards. The award gives them $7000 to put towards education for farmers on regenerative farming practices and to empowering farmers to produce “life-enriching food”. More info here

$134m Smart Farm funding on offer

The Federal Government is allocating $134m in funding soon through the Smart Farms Program to support Landcare-type projects.  Details here 

Mobile government service centre coming to Towong

The Australian Government Mobile Service Centre will be visiting:

  • Corryong, adjacent to Attree Park, Jardine Street, 5 December, 10 am to 4 pm 
  • Tallangatta, opposite the ANZ Bank, Towong Street, 6 December, 9 am to 4 pm
  • Tangambalanga, near the Tangambalanga Hotel, Kiewa E Road, 7 December, 9 am to 4 pm

Staff from the Department of Human Services travel with the Mobile Service Centre and can help people with Centrelink, Medicare, Child Support and Australian Hearing payments and services. Enquiries and info here.
