Government response to NBN committee report

The Australian Government has made its response to the first report of the 45th Parliament of the Joint Standing Committee on the NBN. The committee, of which I am a member, made its report to the Parliament in September 2017. The response is available as a PDF document on the committee website here under “Additional documents”.


Welcome to Victorian Government’s commitment to young people

Young people from Indi will have opportunities to actively participate in and connect with their local community with the Victorian Government’s allocation of $875,000 to North East Victoria. The recipients of funding in Indi are the Alpine Shire Council, the Bonnie Doon Community Group, the City of Wodonga, Corryong Neighbourhood House Inc, Indigo Shire Council, Mansfield Shire Council and Murrindindi, and North East Support and Action for Youth (NESAY). ATTENTION residents of Leneva/Wooragee, Eldorado, Tolmie, Archerton and Ancona!

Tonight will see the first of four community celebrations that mark the delivery of five mobile phone towers funded under the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme. New towers will be launched at Leneva, Eldorado, Tolmie, Archerton and Ancona. Everyone is invited to these celebrations. The details are:

  • Beechworth-Wodonga Rd – 19 January 2018 at 6.30pm at the Leneva CFA Station
  • Eldorado – 20 January 2018 at 11am at Gunhouse Park, Eldorado
  • Tolmie and Archerton – 23 January 2018 at 10am at Tolmie Hall
  • Ancona – 23 January 2018 at 12.30pm at Ancona Hall

Community Energy Retailer North East Strategy

Representatives from Totally Renewable Yackandandah, Indigo Shire, North East Water and my office have met this week to discuss development of a business case for the establishment of a Community Energy Retailer via New Energy Jobs Fund (Vic Govt) that will assist in the transition to the generation and use of renewable electricity in Australia, and especially North East Victoria. More about the Financial Services Royal Commission

There have been questions from many constituents about the status of the Royal Commission announced last year by the Federal Government that will investigate misconduct in the banking, superannuation and financial services industry.
