Community lobbying drives great result for Rutherglen detour
Effective lobbying from the Rutherglen community has resulted in a win for safety. The Victorian Government has pledged $2 million to match federal funding announced earlier this year for the Rutherglen heavy vehicle detour.
Minister asked re superannuation
Cathy has written to the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services Kelly O’Dwyer to act on superannuation underpayments. The Minister has been urged to take whatever steps are necessary to enable the ATO to do its job in a timely way.

Community backs independence
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has released details of campaign expenditures by some of the candidates who stood at at the July 2016 federal election. In Indi 1490 donors made contributions totalling almost $204,000. Thanks to all the supporters whose grassroots campaign was vital to “keep the seat orange”.
Saluting their service at Bright RSL
Congratulations to the Bright RSL who have received a Commonwealth funded Saluting Their Service award. The grant for $1505 will go towards erecting a Long Tan Cross and plaques in the Memorial Forecourt Garden of the RSL sub branch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
Local Sporting Champions
This Commonwealth funded grant supports young people like Joanna Garoni to make their sporting dreams come true. The next round of applications closes 28 February 2017. Joanna is 13 and plays for the Victorian Under 15 Softball team.
Dartmouth mobile phone tower coming online
The Dartmouth mobile phone base station is expected to come online in January. A community celebration will be held in January to celebrate the launch of the Dartmouth mobile phone base station. This is the third of 38 to be delivered under the Mobile Black Spot Program. Watch this space for a date and come and celebrate with us.
