  • Dartmouth mobile phone tower launched Wednesday 22 February

Persistence from the community, Towong Council and emergency services saw the opening of the Dartmouth Tower on Thursday with Cathy and the Telstra Team. This is the third of 38 towers to be funded under the Mobile Black Spot Program.

EFFECTIVE INDI

  • Alpine Valley Dairy Partnership Project (AVDPP)

One hundred people attended the public meeting hosted by AVDPP in Tangambalanga on Wednesday 22 February.  A delegation from the meeting will head to Canberra on Wednesday 22 March to continue the fight. Local people getting together to deliver practical and effective solutions for the Dairy Industry. This is the Indi Way.

  • Childcare with National Association of Mobile Services

Cathy met with Anne Bowler from National Association of Mobile Services before heading to Canberra to continue to fight for rural and regional families to access high quality child care. Childcare Care legislation will be up for debate next week in parliament as part of the Government Social Services Legislation Amendment (Omnibus Savings and Child Care Reform) Bill.

  • Murrindindi Valley Visit

Thanks to the communities of Yea, Alex, Eildon and the Murrindindi Shire and for hosting this week’s Valley Visit to the Goulburn Valley– lots of things to see and do!

The Upper Goulburn Landcare Network in Yea doing great things working for increased government support for Landcare facilitators and blackberry action groups. Proud to be a Landcare champion!

  • Rutherglen RSL

Thanks to Rutherglen RSL David Martin OAM - Indi Anzac Centenary Committee and to celebrate and a warm welcome to Dr Brendan Nelson, Director, Australia War memorial at the unveiling of WW1 Soldier Statue at Rutherglen RSL – a work of art!

THE WEEK AHEAD – BACK TO PARLIAMENT

  • Childcare Care legislation will be up for debate next week in parliament as part of the Government Social Services Legislation Amendment (Omnibus Savings and Child Care Reform) Bill.
  • The North East train line will the focus in both houses with the ARTC appearing before the Senate Estimates committee and Cathy calling for passenger services to be considered core business for the ARTC in the Chamber.
  • Support for dairy farmers will be up for debate with the Farm Household Support Amendment to be debated in Parliament on Monday.
