Funding flows for Indi projects

Projects to enhancing the Benalla Lake Precinct and install water bubblers around Indigo Shire will soon be underway. Each project received $18,125 this week under the Stronger Communities Program.

Sharing Indi with Parliament

Sharing good news about Indi is one of the perks of Cathy’s role as an MP. This week she spoke about Eildon Primary School and its town, St Bernard’s Primary School’s work honouring Indigenous Anzacs, and Indi’s next case study about the community using Parliamentary Tools to achieve results. Momentum gathers for Pay Day lending changes

Changing the legislation around pay day lending was among the matters discussed in Parliament this week. Sandra Blake from St Stephens in Wodonga has been instrumental in helping to bring this issue to the national agenda. Watch Cathy’s speech about the Bill here.

Volunteers join Indi’s Canberra office

Attending Senate Estimates, USA mid-term election briefings and sitting in on question time were among the activities volunteers Judy Ryan, Phoebe Parsons, Anna Parsons, Lubosh Hanuska and Jack Nelson attended at Parliament House this week. While volunteers places are full for the last two sitting weeks of this year, expressions of interest for 2019 can be sent to cathy.mcgowan.mp@aph.gov.au.

School groups visit Parliament House

 

Students from Cathedral College Wangaratta and Eildon Primary School visited Canberra this week. As well as learning more about Parliament, they spoke about their leadership programs and highlights of the school. Click on the school names to learn more.
