National Integrity Commission Bill 2018
Supported by the crossbench, Cathy this week introduced to Parliament a Private Member’s Bill calling for a National Integrity Commission to be established in Australia. The commission would provide for a nationally coordinated integrity framework, with an emphasis on prevention, supported by strong powers of investigation to enable criminal charges or other actions in response to cases of corruption. Funding to help strengthen Mansfield, Wodonga communities
Mansfield cricket players are set to benefit from an $18,125 grant to upgrade the town’s cricket pitch at the recreation reserve. The funding was secured under the Stronger Communities Program. Similarly, three projects in Wodonga will be upgraded under the same funding stream, with $18,125 to go towards Solar lighting at Julia Ronan Park, new seating at Baranduda Reserve, and the Marking our Mark mural for to be designed in conjunction with local Aboriginal youth.
Meanwhile, Cathy celebrated upgrades to the Yackandandah Pool with the local community today. An $18,125 grant under SCP to Indigo Shire Council was put towards a new solar blanket for the Yackandandah Pool and safety signage upgrades to all five of the Shire’s pools.
Constitutional recognition final report out now
The final report from the Joint Select Committee on Constitutional Recognition relating to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples was tabled in Parliament on 29 November, 2018. Read it here.
School groups come to Canberra
Six Indi schools - Victory Lutheran College, Falls Creek Primary School, Wandiligong Primary School, Harrietville Primary School, Wangaratta High School and Mansfield Steiner School - visited Cathy at Parliament this week. Check out all the photos here.
