Two more mobile phone towers for Indi; it’s time to fund Round 4
Federal Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan has welcomed news the Tallangatta South and Killingworth mobile base stations have been switched on. The towers are among the 38 delivered for Indi under the Commonwealth Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme in rounds 1 and 2.
“My communities have worked together to identify black spots in Indi’s nine local government areas through a solid partnership with local, state and federal governments,” Ms McGowan said.
“There’s nothing ‘lukewarm’ about this work which has halved the number of black spots in Indi since 2014.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the Minister for Regional Communications, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie when she confirms funding for Round 4 of the Mobile Black Spot Program in the 2018-19 Federal Budget.”
Ms McGowan said in January she had welcomed the Victorian Government’s announcement it would provide $11 million to invest in building new mobile phone towers across regional Victoria at priority sites.
“The Victorian Minister, Philip Dalidakis visited Indi this month to meet with local governments and discuss priority mobile black spots in the North East,” she said.
“Their discussions have been an important step in highlighting priority sites and informing the process the Victorian Government is now undertaking with Emergency Management Victoria and local governments.”
