Indi voice important in Government Agricultural Competitiveness Issues Paper
Cathy McGowan AO, Federal Member for Indi, is reminding farmers, industry groups and individuals they have two weeks to make a submission to the Government’s Agricultural Competitiveness Issues Paper.
“Agriculture and food production are integral to the future development of Indi.” Ms McGowan said.
“Our jobs, manufacturing, education, services and infrastructure are all underpinned by a strong and vibrant sector.”
The Issues Paper is the first step in the White Paper process. A copy of the Issues Paper is available at www.agriculturalcompetitiveness.dpmc.gov.au.
The White Paper will detail the Government’s long-term strategic direction and policy commitments to promote competitiveness, farm-gate profitability, investment and jobs in the sector.
“The Issues Paper contains questions for consideration; please take the opportunity to consult with others in your community and industry,” Ms McGowan said.
“It is important diverse views, ideas and innovations from Indi are provided and then considered.”
Submissions are due before 5pm on April 17 and can be made by email, mail or online at www.agriculturalcompetitiveness.dpmc.gov.au/online-submissions.
Ms McGowan is also asking anyone who is making a submission to send a copy to her office at 117 Murphy Street Wangaratta, phone Tia Reid on (03) 5721 7077 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
“This is so I can follow up on the important issues that have been flagged,” she said.
Ms McGowan thanked people who had taken the time and effort to prepare a submission for the Issues Paper, to ensure Indi’s agricultural voice is heard.
The Agricultural Competitiveness Taskforce will be in Shepparton on April 9 and Albury on April 10 to meet with local farmers and others involved in the agricultural sector.
Meetings are by appointment only and can be made by phoning 02 6271 6272 or emailing email@example.com.
