Update sought on $100 million upgrade of North East rail line
Federal Independent Member for Indi, Cathy McGowan has asked the Government when the electorate can expect completion of track works that will allow for the operation of new trains on the North East rail line.
Ms McGowan directed her questions on Thursday to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Barnaby Joyce who this week met with the Victorian Minister for Public Transport and Major Projects, Jacinta Allan.
“Can you give us an update on the scope of works for the $100 million upgrade? When will the scope of works be released for public consultation, and when will work commence?”
In a follow-up letter to Ms McGowan, Minister Joyce said works funded under the $100 million project would begin mid-2018.
Minister Joyce said the ARTC is working with Victorian officials to finalise community consultation sessions which will commence in March.
